The Four Pillars Of A Meaningful Life

The Four Pillars Of A Meaningful Life

Recently I saw an amazing TED talk explaining the difference between a happy life and a meaningful life. Turns out it makes much more sense to pursue the latter. Because happiness comes and goes. It is a state of comfort and ease in the moment. Meaning goes deeper. In her talk, Emily Esfahani Smith, journalist and author, states that a meaningful life is built upon four pillars. Of course one can focus on one or two but paying attention to all of them definitely pays off in the long term. Reflecting on this I realized that all of these pillars have become essential fields of interest in my life over the last years. So I wanted to share them with you and link my very own thoughts on each of them in the times to come.Weiterlesen >
The Devil Wears Classy

The Devil Wears Classy

Kleider machen Leute" is the German saying that best sums up the effect of a carefully chosen outfit. The clothes we wear are amongst the first impressions somebody gets of us. They comfort us and protect us, covering most parts of our bodies for most of the time. They have clear purposes and thus, designing them always requires a good balance between beauty and practicability. And finally they are a great opportunity to express ourselves. This self-expression has always fascinated me and I've been quite experimental over the years. This post shall work as my very own lookbook – giving you an impression of my style and myself another opportunity to reflect and be creative.Weiterlesen >
Dr. Vasant Lad’s Wisdoms

Dr. Vasant Lad’s Wisdoms

Today, I just want to share some quotes with you from Dr. Vasant Lad who was a guest at my most favorite podcast "happy, holy & confident" by Laura Malina Seiler recently. Dr. Lad is an Ayurvedic teacher, traveling around the world to spread the teachings, views and wisdoms from Ayurveda, a system of medicine with historical roots in the Indian subcontinent. The interview was just amazing and he spoke some very deep truths. Hope you find time to reflect on them. And if so: enjoy!Weiterlesen >
Marienfestung Würzburg

Marienfestung Würzburg

This week I was visiting my mum in Würzburg, in the south of Germany. It was the first time I could really put the camera of my new iPhone X to use and test it's features like the Portrait Mode. Of course, it is still far from perfect and for some situations, I still prefer my Canon DSLR. However, smartphones are closing the gap. Some of the iPhone's algorithms for picture optimization and manipulation really surprised me. Especially thinking about where all this could easily go within the next few months or years. I see a lot of creative potential here!Weiterlesen >
Another Kind of Self-discovery

Another Kind of Self-discovery

In the past weeks my creative juices have been quite active again. I stumble over things by accident and ideas and "what-ifs" seem to take over my mind with a tight grip. When time allows it, I indulge in them and it's quite interesting to see what happens. For example, this week, I found some old MRI scans of my head. Don't ask how I got those back in 2015 – it was a mixture of curiosity and persistence, as it is always the case with me. But when I saw them these days, I wondered: What can I do with these? Can I take the information they contain and make something new out of it? Shouldn't I be able to generate a 3D model with the help of some clever algorithms? The game was on. There wasn't a purpose or application. And there still isn't. There are just possibilities. For another kind of self-discovery.Weiterlesen >
Enjoy Paradise in South East Asia

Enjoy Paradise in South East Asia

Today I’ve had a nice brunch with my friend Betti who needed some travel advice for Thailand. After talking to her, I realized I’d have to come up with a small list or so in order to really help her and in order to keep this list structured, I thought I could also directly pack it into a new post and share it with all of you. So here it is: my perspective on this fascinating country and what to keep in mind when planning your trip.Weiterlesen >

Weiterlesen >
My Botanical Inventory

My Botanical Inventory

If you'd ask me which of my things I like most, I would probably say: My plants. Over the years I've grown very fond of the idea of bringing life right into my cosy place. And as it is the case with most things I love, I wanted to start writing about it. So here it is: my plant inventory. To document, analyze and keep track of my urban jungle. And hopefully my own garden one day!Weiterlesen >
Culture & Creativity

Culture & Creativity

I've finally completed my very own culture journal. Within I'll keep track of all the wonderful ballets, musicals, classical concerts, operas and plays I have witnessed. I'm a huge fan of all of these performing arts, preferring the classics among them but also being interested in modern interpretations and ideas. I'm inspired by many friends who very regularly visit the theatre and I'm grateful for all of them! Here's to many more performances together with you guys!Weiterlesen >
Exploring the World one Step at a Time

Exploring the World one Step at a Time

Incomplete list of the places I've visited, explored and lived in for a while. In my life I want to understand the world and the people living in it as best as I can. Traveling and seeing first hand, experiencing the diversity that makes our little blue planet so special is essential to acquiring this knowledge. Over the time I'll add more places, satellite pictures and eventually links to articles that describe what made these places so special to me; what learnings they offered.Weiterlesen >
Painted Nails

Painted Nails

A one day romance we agreed upon. A one day romance we had. Though what was in between the lines Was, for me, so much more than that. For you, for sure, unknown. In your eyes, for me, Every light of New York City. But most of all – the truth. On your fingers‘ tips, for you, Just painted nails. For me – the truth Of New York City. We talked of dreams, of fainting youth. We talked so open, full of truth. From truth came trust, we touched, No fear. But in my ear, The haunting voice: this does…Weiterlesen >
The Life of Buddha Siddhartha Gautama

The Life of Buddha Siddhartha Gautama

Sometimes life works in mysterious ways and once again I walked one step further on my buddhist journey just by chance (or perhaps by fate). This is the story of how I became a Disciple of Buddha himself – this time referring to the actual historical Buddha Siddhartha Gautama. It is a story full of myths and tales of Buddha incarnations, holy monks and spiritual leaders, of beasts and deities and demons and of great teachings supposedly leading to the enlightenment I so much strive for. And I invite you once again to join me on this path.Weiterlesen >
Mein Morgenritual

Mein Morgenritual

„Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is a mystery. Today is a gift. That’s why it is called the present.“ – jeder Tag ist ein Geschenk. Weiterlesen >
